Since the retreat with Jack and Louis, One of the things I’m now doing at work is giving people a reminder that a lot of the pressure we feel is self-imposed. And letting them know “you don’t need to be so hard on yourself”. I’m giving people more permission around giving people help and permission. It’s given me permission to be human.
Slowing down has been my biggest breakthrough from the retreat with Jack and Louis. I’ve become very conscious and aware of it and I’m giving myself permission to not try to get everything done in a day.
Chris and his team were the perfect guides for this fun and transformational experience. Chris is in his element in a canoe and in the Algonquin terrain. He pushed us while allowing us the space to learn and grow. We ate well, were supplied with all the equipment we would need, and always felt safe. In situations where i previously wasn't doing a good job of taking control (ie. a moment of entrepreneurial overwhelm, self-sabotage) - I didn't have the tools to stop those interactions. Now, that’s completely changed.
I left for the trip feeling pulled away from my life (work/wife/kids/etc) and I came back feeling refreshed and given another chance to enjoy life.
CK and his crew are awesome. They managed to guide, care for, and feed a group of 30 without a hitch. This was a trip for a mens' empowerment group and we ate like kings every day.
CK was able to bring such a vibe and skill that even the most "manly man" was willing to talk about the challenges they've had and to help each other heal and grow.
The retreat was an incredible safe space and community of men to grow in wellbeing and make a paradigm shift together into further growth and healing. As a busy COO of one of America's fastest-growing companies, it's been so long since l've had the right opportunity to unplug and take the special time needed to reconnect with myself, find healing, and practice mindfulness - and the Reconnect Retreat was the perfect place to do that and even discover like-minded brothers and get excellent guidance in emotional wellbeing.
From the moment everyone was together, Louis and Jack created a warm, open, and accepting environment for everyone.
There was an immediate sense of safety that allowed me to bring down my walls and truly explore myself and express it.
Details were meticulous. Every morning, there were sessions to settle into yourself for the experiences of the day. I would encourage anyone looking to deepen their self-awareness and care to do so with skilled guides to not think twice about attending a POC retreat. The only bad thing I have to say is that I wanted more time with the incredible men who attended the retreat.
